Six Sustainability Initiatives

Good Health
and Well-Being
Since 2012, Tala and Taretan mills have supported local communities through the Farmacias Solidarias program, providing low-cost or free medical care and medicines.

Health campaigns for employees and communities include vision services, general medicine, vaccination, dental care, and prevention of diseases and addictions. Since 2020, the “Pink October” breast cancer campaign has benefited more than 60 women annually.

Siembra also supports a healthy work-life balance.
Quality Education
Since 2012, Siembra has partnered with the GEU Foundation in Sinaloa and Jalisco, promoting cultural activities, contests on child labor prevention, and summer camps.

Together with GEU and Milpa de Cantos, the El Chaparral Community Recreation Center was inaugurated in Tala, Jalisco, offering more than 145 courses, cultivating 240 garden beds, installing collection centers, and training over 1,370 people. The center also has a nursery and produces biofertilizers.
Employment and
Microenterprise Promotion
We promote self-employment and entrepreneurship in communities where we operate by training families and community members in trades and crafts.

We also provide tools and training for personal and professional development, turning employees into ambassadors of change and expanding positive impact in communities.
Sports and
Culture Promotion
We support community development through contributions to public spaces such as parks and corridors, film screenings in town squares, sponsorship of local teams, cleanup campaigns, and donation of trash bins.

In collaboration with Guardianes de la Ceiba, the Tala mill has planted 100 trees and established an urban garden. The Campo Limpio Program manages agrochemical containers safely, preventing field contamination and protecting workers’ health and the environment.
Reduction of Agrochemicals
and Herbicides
We implement controlled manual doses and drone use based on soil analysis. We apply basalt and organic lime to improve soil pH, introduce solarization for weed control in agave crops, and promote irrigation practices that prevent leaching.

We ensure zero hazardous waste in the field and proper agrochemical container handling. Authorized agrochemicals are used on 100% of our own fields. Solarization in agave plots (2 ha) showed positive results, with no weed growth in treated areas.
Safety, Diversity, and Inclusion
We foster a safe and healthy work environment through proactive prevention, wellness programs, and work-life balance policies to reduce absenteeism and conflicts.

We promote gender equity by increasing women’s participation in leadership roles and expanding access to education, especially for girls.

We implement inclusive hiring policies, conduct women’s health campaigns, and work to maintain a discrimination-free environment, prioritizing integrity and the well-being of all community members.
